I went on a trip I’ve wanted to do for a while this weekend! The Netherlands and Belgium are really close to where I live so it’s easy for me to travel whenever I have time – and I try to make the most out of it. I had already been to Amsterdam and this time I wanted to see Belgium so my friend and I decided to go on a mini trip to Brussels!
It’s such a beautiful city with loads of pretty views (and good food). In some way it reminded me of both Paris and Stockholm and I absolutely loved it! It’s charming that the people there speak French as well. I’ve swept my French under the carpet and I’ll keep it there until I’ve learned German but I would easily move to a French-speaking country if I had the chance😅.
While we were there, we obviously had to get waffles. What’s a trip to Belgium without trying some of their famous Belgian waffles?
Every street and corner we turned to we’d see gorgeous waffles on display so it was hard to miss. The difficult part was choosing the toppings! But they did live up to the hype, and so did the ‘Frites’ which are Fries but Belgian style. I’m not a huge fries-person, BUT the ones I had there must’ve been the best I’ve ever tasted. (I had them twice, alongside the traditional ‘Moules’). Aside from that I had loads of chocolate as well since the city is filled with chocolate shops🤩.
I loved eating traditional food, walking around, seeing different parts of the city as well as visiting the Christmas market🎄. It’s a great time of the year to see the city and I’m hoping I’ll get to visit it again. It’s only a bus/train ride away, so maybe baby🤷🏽♀️. Bruges and Ghent are on my travel list too so I’d love to visit them next time I get the opportunity:)
À la prochaine 👋🏼
